National Certificate Level 4 in Health Care Assisting for the Nursing and Paramedics Sector implemented under the NTRS
Healthcare assistants (HCAs) play a vital role in the healthcare industry, providing essential support and assistance to both patients and medical personnel. Serving as a foundational role, healthcare assistance is a stepping stone into many other nursing positions. The latest skills need survey conducted by the HRDC and regular meetings held with the Industry Association have highlighted that there is a lack of experienced and qualified HCAs within the local market. Both private clinics and old age homes require this job profile and encounter challenges in enlisting suitably skilled candidates.
To meet the need for trained and qualified personnel, the HRDC in collaboration with the Private Clinics Association has implemented a 12-month training programme in Health Care Assisting (National Certificate Level 4) to skill new entrants in the Health Sector.
The main objective of this programme was to impart knowledge and skills needed in the care of the elderly and sick people. The training comprised theoretical and practical components as well as placement in various private clinics and old age homes. Training was conducted by Dr. Patrick Chui Wan Cheong Sana Global Educare Co. Ltd and Quatre Bornes Professional Training Centre (QBPTC Ltd).
An Award Ceremony will be organised at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tower, Ebène on 12 September 2023 for the 96 trainees have successfully completed the training programme.
